How to choose restaurant POS software in Saudi Arabia
A 12-point checklist for choosing restaurant POS software in Saudi Arabia: ZATCA Phase 2, Arabic bills, KOT, TAB ordering, delivery apps, multi-branch reports and support in Riyadh.

Your POS is the busiest piece of equipment in your restaurant. Every order, payment and invoice passes through it, and since ZATCA Phase 2 it also talks to the tax authority. Choosing the wrong system costs you time at the counter, money in stock losses and, in the worst case, compliance penalties. Use this 12-point checklist before you sign with any vendor in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam or anywhere in the Kingdom.
Compliance
1. Is it ZATCA Phase 2 ready today?
Ask for a live demonstration of an invoice being reported to ZATCA, not a promise. The POS should generate XML, a cryptographic stamp and the Phase 2 QR code, and report simplified invoices within 24 hours, even after an internet outage. Read our ZATCA Phase 2 guide for the details.
2. Does it print proper Arabic bills?
Your tax invoice needs the right Arabic labels, your VAT number and correct VAT calculations. Check that menu item names print in Arabic and English and that the layout fits your receipt printer.
Front of house
3. Is billing fast at peak time?
Time a test order with modifiers, a split bill and a Mada payment. On a busy Thursday night, seconds per order add up.
4. Can waiters order from the table?
TAB (tablet) ordering cuts walking and mistakes, and sends orders to the kitchen instantly. It matters most for family sections and larger dining halls.
5. Does it handle every way you sell?
Dine-in, take-away, drive-through, catering and delivery each need their own prices and reports. If you sell through delivery apps, ask how those orders get into the POS and your VAT reports.
Kitchen and stock
6. KOT printers or kitchen display?
The system should route each item to the right station, such as grill, juice counter or bakery, on a printer or a kitchen display screen.
7. Recipes, stock and wastage
Recipe-based stock deduction and wastage tracking show you where food cost is really going. Without them, your profit report is a guess.
8. Purchases and suppliers
Recording purchases and supplier balances in the same system keeps stock, cost and accounts in step.
Owner control
9. Reports on your phone
Daily sales, profit, VAT and branch comparisons should reach you online or by email without calling the manager.
10. User rights and audit log
Discounts, voids and price changes need permissions and a log. This is the single best defence against manipulation at the counter.
The vendor
11. Local support, 24/7
Restaurants don’t close at 5pm. Make sure support answers late at night and at the weekend, and can visit your site in your city.
12. Total cost of ownership
Compare licence type (lifetime or yearly subscription), hardware, installation, training and annual support over three years, not just the first invoice.
